Our club's current financial situation is very bleak. We have no money for our spring trip to Washington, DC., or our St. Valentine's Day Dance. During our last meeting someone suggested having a car wash to raise money. Since then I have found the following information to help us with our decision:

• The total cost of sponges, rags, soap, buckets, and other materials needed will be $117.50.
• The usual charge for washing one car is $4.

Please produce a mathematical analysis of this situation that includes an equation with definitions of the variables, a table of values, and a graph. Use this mathematical information to write a report about raising money with the car wash. In the report please answer the following questions:

• How much money would we raise if we washed 10 cars? 50 cars? 100 cars?
• How many cars must we wash to "break even"?
• How many cars must we wash to raise enough money for:
  • The trip to Washington; estimated cost $875
  • The St. Valentine's Day Dance; estimated cost $350
• Realistically can the car wash raise enough money for both of these activities?
